AIREDALE TERRIER
The Airedale is the largest of the terrier breeds and has been used in Britain as a war dog, guide dog and police dog thanks to its powerful scenting abilities. For this reason, it has also been commonly used as a hunting dog. It is known for being non-aggressive and good with children, making it an excellent family pet.
The coat is short and wiry which means it will not shed a lot, however it needs regular grooming.
The Airedale is a very intelligent breed with a strong prey drive and some herding instincts. This means it needs firm handling and plenty of training as early as possible to ensure it’s properly socialised and to prevent it from becoming dominant within the household.
Their intelligence also means the Airedale can quickly become bored if left for long periods of time.
